Here, There, Errywhere

You Don't Know Where You're Going, Until You Know Where You've Been.

Sorry for my lack of posts of late. With the pox, new job and going on hols next week, little LizFish1 has been busy!!!

I have a haul video filmed, edited and ready to go- BUT it is 20 mins long. This means that it will take an age to upload (all HD baby!) and as I leave for Portugal at 3.30am (INSANE!) tomorrow morning and am out ce soir this may not be poss.

I will however promise to take many a pic (when I am clothed, NO beach shots!) of the fam and I in the glorious Algarve and possible try to convince my bro to do 'The Sibling Tag'. He is unfortunately younger and cooler than me, so he may not agree- but I will lay the pressure on thick.

Also I have tweeted and such like that I have a new job which I am loving so far- the new team are lovely and I can't wait to get stuck in! This does however mean I am quite exhausted of an evening and coinciding that with trying to put the time in at the gym to lose my 'chicken pox induced fluff' AND the fact I am trying to organise a wedding in four months has been proving tricky.

I do promise normal scheduling will resume soon- Pinky Swear.

Hope you all had a great May, isn't the year flying by? Are you holidaying anywhere soon?

Happy Birthday GlossyBox!!!

'Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday to ya, Happy Birthday to yaaaaaaa'

Little Miss GlossyBox turned into a right stroppy toddler on May 10th... NOT! I honestly want to wish all of the Glossy Girls a very happy second birthday, thank you so much for supporting me as a blogger for the past two years- the arrivals of your beautifully colored boxes* over the past year has been a joy to unwrap!

Birthdays also equal presents, so lets get into the good stuff.

Happy Birthday Glossies!

L-R La Roche- Posay Anthelios XL 50+ Dry Touch Gel- Cream, Stone Beauty Body Lotion, Headline Colors Poolside Party Nail Varnish, BM Beauty Prime & Create mixing medium and Jelly POng POng Fairy Lashes Mascara)

Great wand close up!

Right up my street- can't wait to test this in the Portugal heat in June!

Top of the Box LA ROCHE- POSAY 50+ Anthelios XL 50+ Dry Touch Gel- Cream.

I have to admit that I am not the best sun protection wearer. I do understand that sun beds and repeated burning of your skin is sinful, but and its a big BUT- everyone is so SUN SCARED at the moment, that people are becoming seriously Vitamin D deficient.

So much so, that I take Vitamin D3 daily and have the odd sun bed in the winter months. More and more of us are now working indoors- sometimes with no windows (ME!) and only getting some rays on our annual weekly holiday abroad (ALSO ME!). I totes agree that sun damage is not hot, but I do encourage people to be sun safe. Catch some rays, stay hydrated, don't burn and enjoy it!!!

That being said- I have particularly sensitive 'face skin' (good use of the english language liz!) at the mo due to being infested with chicken pox, so I do wanna enter the sun carefully for my first rays of 2013 when I hit the beautiful Portugese Algarve in June. What I am trying to say is, I may give this a good road test :)

Do you wear sunscreen daily? Is your Birthday coming up? What was your Top of the Box this month? Let me know in the comments below.

Don't forget to follow the Glossies on all of their social media sites are these are running a particularly high amount of comps at the moment to celebrate their birthday! Glossy tweets, facebook, instagram and pinterest.

Outfit of the Day!

Mother/ Daughter Brunch with CHICKEN POX!

My lovely mummy (for the purpose of this post, she shall be known as her twitter/ IG avatar- GracieFish) decided to treat me to brunch on this beautifully sunny may- day weekend.

GracieFish has lovingly used her Outsider Tart cookbook for some time and wanted to visit their eatery to taste to goodness direct from the source. So I drove to Chiswick as early as appropriate on a Sunday morning on the proviso of a delightful carb rich 'american stye' feast once we arrived.

Although the company was lovely- the food and ambience, not so much. We weren't greeted, just left to seat ourselves and when I asked about an order amendment, I was told that 'they would have to get back to me'. Alas, nobody did. The brunch menu was on the small side and was missing some offerings that TBH I would've preferred when I read up about the Outsider Tart online.

Onto the positives- coffee was good- ish (The Fisher Fam are SERIOUS about coffee), if you like eggs runny then they were up there with the wettest and they did not skimp on butter for me bland scone!!!

In all seriousness it was nice to be treated by my mummy, she knows how to cheer me when I am poorly.

ONTO the OOTD- having a slight clothing crisis ATM. I really want to update my spring/ summer work wardrobe!

I'm not talking a designer spree- all I want is a couple new Primarni (AKA Primark) staples, maybe a flutter in Zara or Topshop tall??? BUT alas I cannot- Wedding is looming and all £££ goes to that. #pants

Valentine Belle

The Valentines GlossyBox*

I love anything with a theme. Parties, Beauty Boxes, Parties.... You get my drift. Seriously though, who doesn't love a cohesive genre running through something or other to make it feel that LITTLE bit more spesh?

I give you the February 2013 Valentines GlossyBox.

Left to Right- Docteur Renaud ~Raspberry Soft Cream. Helen E Cosmetics ~ Moisturising Lipstick. Narciso Rodriguez ~ for her l'eau. Micabella Cosmetics ~Mineral Blush Powder. MeMeMe Cosmetics ~Beat the Blues. GlossyBox ~Heart Lolly.

Star prize goes to the Narciso Rodriguez l'eau for her. This a sexy, pepped up classic, with notes of traditional citrus, a symphony of floral and a heart of musk. Launching nationwide next month is is tipped to become a particular fave amongst Brides? How they came up with that I am not sure, but it is definitely a very sensual fragrance.

Will you be ours? Er, yeah I will actually.

Let GlossyBox treat you this month at www.glossybox.co.uk

Jacava London Nails

Blueberry Muffin ~ Candy Floss ~ Crimson Crush

Pay attention because this is seriously one of the best finds of 2013. You ready?

I have been 'Jacava'd'.

I entered the Feel Unique/ Jacava* collab competition recently and WON. Yes I am lucky, but the discovery of this nail varnish brand heavily out ways my giddiness of winning prizes.  Jacava London are a polish brand which follow a free from policy. Their stunning varnishes do not include 8 of the biggest cosmetics nasties (Formaldehyde, Camphor, Toluene, DBP, Collophane, Phthalates or Animal Ingredients). The nail lacquer gives a serious high gloss, opaque, luxe vibe and get this- the print on the bottle is 22 carat gold.

Yeahhhhhh you read it right- GOLD.

Would you support this London design and manufactured product? If you are even the slightest bit unsure- just take a look at the pictures below.

Thank you feelunique.com

Part Time Paleo (4)

So basicallllllyyyyyyyy I am a top notch Chef... Just call me Chef Fish.

JOKES! My boyf Physio_Matt (follow him on twitter!) thinks I am the best cook ever OBVZ- but I think this maybe because Matt is always starving and I can serve him the blandest meal ever and I still get heaps of compliments.

If you are an avid reader of my blog (thanks!) then you may know that for the past year or so I have tried to adapt to a paleolithic/ primal way of eating. I have been given a recent kick up the butt by Matt. He recently became of Crossfit Level 1 trainer and whilst on this course he learnt a lot more about primal eating and the zone diet and became an instant convert!

Simply this means a diet consisting of meat, vegetables, nuts, seeds, little fruit and no sugar.

I obviously include weekly cheats, and the cheats I allow myself correlate to the amount of exercise I have completed. I digress...

Here is an awesome, simple, quick meal to make that appeals to the taste buds as well as complying to the primal way of eating. I present to you- Coconut Tilapia with roasted red peppers  on a bed of spinach. Recipe below the mouth watering images :)

Recipe

  • Tilapia. Sprinkle the little fillet with the following- salt, pepper, coriander, desiccated coconut, jalepeno peppers and red chilli powder. Bake in the oven on 180 (fan assisted oven) until the flesh is opaque.
  • Red Peppers- deseed and then season with salt, pepper, red chilli powder and EVOO. I think half x2 cherry tomatoes and let these roast inside with a little sprinkling of fresh garlic. Roast in the oven for approx 30 mins on 180 (fan assisted oven) or until the peppers begin to charcoal and curl slightly.
  • Spinach- wash and then steam- NO nonsense spinach!

Hey presto! Bon appetite peeps! What do you think of the primal/ paleo food regime? Any recipe ideas for me? Leave them in the comments below!

Draw My Life!

Hi Guys!!!

Sooooo... I was tagged by the beautz Erica from EricaFae on YouTube to do the 'Draw My Life' tag. I was a tad apprehensive TBH- reasons why below.

1. I cannot draw- which is crucial to the success and/ or enjoyment of the video.
2. I do not wish to spread negativity or touch on too many deeply personal times in my life- which when compared to others, mine may seem to gloss over or just not even mention tough of 'touching' subject areas.

That being said I have divulged a LOT- and this whole process of sitting down and drawing pivotal points in your life has really made me appreciate what is important, and that is honestly- as CRINGE as it may be, is the health and happiness of my loved ones!

I hope you enjoyed this tag video and if you have any others that you would like me to film, please leave a comment below and I will add it to my ever growing 'to do' list. Video wise- this is getting particularly long at the moment and that is purely because I have chicken pox at the mo. In fact, I have had them for 10 days now and have signed off of work for a further few.

BUT- strangely enough I don't that feel too bad, I finished my week of antiviral meds yesterday so I feel a lot better! Hope to be no contagious and back to wearing make up very soon. Thank you for all your well wishes on my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Lots of Love,

Liz. xxx
