Knee Deep in the Deadlift.

New In: Reebok Knee Socks

So, I know I don't tend to chat much about my fitness life, but honestly it is HUGEly important to me.  I have a great passion for working out- its makes me feel strong, healthy and empowers me.

I have always been active- I went to stage school from the age of three and growing up I ventured into Karate, Swimming, Gymnastics, Cross Country, Athletics, Yoga- you name it I did it!

But it wasn't until last year that I discovered Crossfit. When I first saw the Reebok commercials on UK tv, I said out loud to my Husband- "I wanna do THAT!". So we did :) We completed our fundamentals course at Crossfit Bold in Earlsfield and I have trained in a Crossfit way since then. My husband fell so in love with the sport that he is now a Crossfit Level 1 trainer and is the process of opening his own box. Awesome right?!

Last week he visited the brand spanking new Reebok Fit Hub in Covent Garden and loved it.  He went along to chat to the Reebok team and I asked for him to fulfil one teeny tiny request. BUY ME
LONG SOCKS.

Why you ask? because bruised shins are not sexy.

Reebok Knee Sock RRP £8.00

Product Code: Z73705

Bad ass Unisex Knee Socks.
I love a good fitness purchase! Being a #fblogger means that my desire to look fierce in the gym is essential. And why the hell not?! Gone are the days where women would rock up to workout in their boys baggy tee and faded leggings. I want to feel good in my clobber, and more importantly it needs to be functional. Reebok Crossfit gear is just that- its designs move with your body and the fabric and colour choices allow to get a good bead on and still look good :) Its a win, win situash!

Shoes: Reebok Nano 2.0s, Socks: Reebok Knee Socks Z63764, Tanned and Tones Pins: Models Own.

Reebok Knee Sock Delta Mono Sock Feapur/Cripur RRP £8.00
If you want to rock Reebok Knee Sock you can pick them up here. But might I recommend you pick up a girly shade? The hubs has already sported my black/ red ones :(

Team them with your fave Nanos and then #getlifting :)

Part Time Paleo (4)

So basicallllllyyyyyyyy I am a top notch Chef... Just call me Chef Fish.

JOKES! My boyf Physio_Matt (follow him on twitter!) thinks I am the best cook ever OBVZ- but I think this maybe because Matt is always starving and I can serve him the blandest meal ever and I still get heaps of compliments.

If you are an avid reader of my blog (thanks!) then you may know that for the past year or so I have tried to adapt to a paleolithic/ primal way of eating. I have been given a recent kick up the butt by Matt. He recently became of Crossfit Level 1 trainer and whilst on this course he learnt a lot more about primal eating and the zone diet and became an instant convert!

Simply this means a diet consisting of meat, vegetables, nuts, seeds, little fruit and no sugar.

I obviously include weekly cheats, and the cheats I allow myself correlate to the amount of exercise I have completed. I digress...

Here is an awesome, simple, quick meal to make that appeals to the taste buds as well as complying to the primal way of eating. I present to you- Coconut Tilapia with roasted red peppers  on a bed of spinach. Recipe below the mouth watering images :)

Recipe

  • Tilapia. Sprinkle the little fillet with the following- salt, pepper, coriander, desiccated coconut, jalepeno peppers and red chilli powder. Bake in the oven on 180 (fan assisted oven) until the flesh is opaque.
  • Red Peppers- deseed and then season with salt, pepper, red chilli powder and EVOO. I think half x2 cherry tomatoes and let these roast inside with a little sprinkling of fresh garlic. Roast in the oven for approx 30 mins on 180 (fan assisted oven) or until the peppers begin to charcoal and curl slightly.
  • Spinach- wash and then steam- NO nonsense spinach!

Hey presto! Bon appetite peeps! What do you think of the primal/ paleo food regime? Any recipe ideas for me? Leave them in the comments below!

Lots of Love,

Part- Time Paleo (2)

No-Oatmeal

I love Friday nights. My work week is done and I am excited for me weekend ahead, this one especially because its a Bank Holiday (skips with Joy!). On Friday night I decided to do some food prep to get me back on the paleo track.

The one food item I am missing the most is my porridge/ oatmeal breakfast, so when I saw TuesdaysMom (Instagram) posted a snap of a Paleo Oatmeal I had to try it.

On Friday night I chose to make my own apple sauce as I had a lot of apples on the way out and did not fancy scouring the supermarket for unsweetened stuff. I googled away and found a very simple 'how-to' recipe.

1. Core and Quarter 4-6 small apples of your choice
2. Boil in 2 cups of water for ten minutes (skin will wrinkle, apples will soften)
3. Add a teaspoon of cinnamon and vanilla extract to your softened apples
4. Return to the heat, and gently simmer (lid off) for a further thirty minutes.
5. Mash or food process the mixture, et voila!
6. Store the apple sauce in the fridge, add to yogurt, ice cream, scrambled eggs or make my No-Oatmeal!

No-Oatmeal Breakfast (see what I did there?!)

Basic Ingredients- measurements can vary depending on consistency, taste you prefer.
Unsweetened Apple Sauce (4 tablespoons)
Almond Butter (1-2 tablespoons)
Unsweetened Almond/ Coconut Milk (1-2 tablespoons)

My creative additions- try any fruit/ nut/ seed combo you like.
Half a Banana
Handful of Pecans
Sprinkle of Cinnamon

1. Heat on low all the basic ingredients above until binded seamlessly.
2. Poor into your breakfast bowl and sprinkle with creative additions.
3. Consume.
