My Clay Time

I came, I clay, I conquered.

Everything from the coffee, to the chat is perfect at The Clay Hair Salon and Spa.

Now I know i'm not a stylists ideal customer. I use heat everyday, far to much dry shampoo and only brave it for a cut quarterly. BUT that being said I am looked after from start to finish SO incredibly well, that they may just see me in eight weeks time (it'll be my bday after all).
The salon excudes cool. And that fact that I just wrote that means, sadly I am not. Cool people, don't use the word cool. But when my 90 mins is up, I feel well on my way :) *don't cringe*
I was going to write a little piece here on my favourite part of the entire Clay experience. But I simply can't pick one. So, here's the list-

1. Awesome coffee. Non of that cafetiere shit, this stuff is good. Rich, hot and buzz worthy- comes with tasty biscuit too.
2. Good magz. Major part in the salon experience. I don't want to spend £20 plus on luxury, fresh magazines- I want to glance through theirs for an hour.
3. The cleansing, conditioning experience. The basins for which I rest my achey neck in, are actually comfortable. Did I mention the back massage feature on the salon chairs? Heaven.
4. The chat. The stylists listen (i'm talking to Abby and Jack). Here's my criteria- I want a good chop, I want long hair, I want blunt ends, I want volume, I want layering, I want the biggest bounciest blow dry YOU HAVE EVER SEEN. What did I get? Just that. Nuff said.
5. Luxury product. Recent stockists of cult beauty brand Oribe and O&M. They have not conformed to the L'Oreal massive- but have sort out to use to brands that stack up and do what they say on the tin. I do miss Unite which they used to stock, but i'll get over it. Have you tried the Oribe texturising spray? MAGICAL.

And here's me mop. Three times over. If I have a haircut, I shall instagram.

November GlossyBox 2013: Wishlist Edition

So, it’s been a while since my last Glossybox* and first impressions are AMAZE! Thoroughly enjoying the newly improved Glossy mini mag and its matching product info card. A million miles better than the newspaper style paper pamphlet AND it still remains as informative as ever.

Now, lets get down to the nitty gritty- what’s actually inside the box?

Yves Rocher: Cocoa and Raspberry Moisturising Hand Cream (full size in box)
£1.95 for 75mls available at yves-rocher.com
Errrrr BARGAIN! A little goes a long way with this hand cream- I tend to be overzealous and squeeze out wayyyy to much. But, even when I do the product still sinks in beautifully and does not leave my hands feeling super slippery and greasy. AND the smell is sooo good- bit jel that other ladies got to sample the cocoa and pistachio ( I LOVE nutty scents!) but this is a firm desk drawer fave.

Elegant Touch Nail Polish Remover Pads
£2.03 for 20 pads available at eleganttouch.com
Not bad, not my fave method of nail varnish removal so I’m on the fence about this one. Hands down THE best removal method for ‘on the go’ is the Bourjois magic nail thingy ma-jiggy. Don’t get me wrong- it works fine, but it leaves your hands mega slimy and would need a good wash afterwards. On the plus side it contains vitamin E which should counteract the dryness induced by the acetone. J

Connock London Fragrance
Single sample included, more details at https://www.connocklondon.co.uk
Who? Never heard of Connock fragrances- sample I got smells of granny. Bit peeved that other subscribers to the box have featured a B. complete long lasting nail polish, but the box is kindly sent to me for review so no complaints here. Although… if I was a paying subscriber and did my homework, read blog posts and saw that others got a full size nail polish it would grate on me. Agree? Too harsh?

Vichy Idealia Life Serum (3 samples in box)
£29.50 for 30mls available at boots.com
Now Vichy is a brand I like. I struggle to test serums to the max as I would ideally like to use them of an evening and unfortunately I have to use my acne treatment at night. It does feel good though! The look of it reminds me of MACs strobe liquid- it has the same pearlescent appeal which will give your skin an extra little something instantaneously. Does it make you appear younger, healthier and more rested like it claims? Not convinced, but I think it would take more than 3 little samples to prove the long term benefits.

Emite Make Up Micronized Eye Shadow- Nect
£16.80 for 1.48g available at emitemakeup.com
Hadn’t heard of Emite before this Glossy- so I took to Google to have a peruse. The brand looks very interesting- I wouldn’t say that this sample eye shadow shows off the brand to its full effect- the Swedish company contains some divine looking products made by artists for artists. The colour I received Nect will be perfect for highlighting which I do daily. Winner.

What do you think of this months Glossy? Super pumped for some of their new bits coming in 2014. Check out twitter trend #glossyboxdinner and check out the latest goss from Bloggers like @Really Ree J

Happy Birthday GlossyBox!!!

'Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday to ya, Happy Birthday to yaaaaaaa'

Little Miss GlossyBox turned into a right stroppy toddler on May 10th... NOT! I honestly want to wish all of the Glossy Girls a very happy second birthday, thank you so much for supporting me as a blogger for the past two years- the arrivals of your beautifully colored boxes* over the past year has been a joy to unwrap!

Birthdays also equal presents, so lets get into the good stuff.

Happy Birthday Glossies!

L-R La Roche- Posay Anthelios XL 50+ Dry Touch Gel- Cream, Stone Beauty Body Lotion, Headline Colors Poolside Party Nail Varnish, BM Beauty Prime & Create mixing medium and Jelly POng POng Fairy Lashes Mascara)

Great wand close up!

Right up my street- can't wait to test this in the Portugal heat in June!

Top of the Box LA ROCHE- POSAY 50+ Anthelios XL 50+ Dry Touch Gel- Cream.

I have to admit that I am not the best sun protection wearer. I do understand that sun beds and repeated burning of your skin is sinful, but and its a big BUT- everyone is so SUN SCARED at the moment, that people are becoming seriously Vitamin D deficient.

So much so, that I take Vitamin D3 daily and have the odd sun bed in the winter months. More and more of us are now working indoors- sometimes with no windows (ME!) and only getting some rays on our annual weekly holiday abroad (ALSO ME!). I totes agree that sun damage is not hot, but I do encourage people to be sun safe. Catch some rays, stay hydrated, don't burn and enjoy it!!!

That being said- I have particularly sensitive 'face skin' (good use of the english language liz!) at the mo due to being infested with chicken pox, so I do wanna enter the sun carefully for my first rays of 2013 when I hit the beautiful Portugese Algarve in June. What I am trying to say is, I may give this a good road test :)

Do you wear sunscreen daily? Is your Birthday coming up? What was your Top of the Box this month? Let me know in the comments below.

Don't forget to follow the Glossies on all of their social media sites are these are running a particularly high amount of comps at the moment to celebrate their birthday! Glossy tweets, facebook, instagram and pinterest.

Undress Your Skin by MUA

All your answers to achieve a flawlessly radiant complexion!

The beautz from MUA have released a great new range of super affordable products to help you achieve a flawless looking make up look.

The range includes three base products and also an amazing neutral eyeshadow twelve pan palette. I popped along to Superdrug a while back when the products were fresh on the shelves to give this range a go. I have previous experience with MUA products and always find them a delight- the heaven and earth eyeshadow is one of my faves.

Primer: Just one pump smoothed over your skin creates a smooth base ready for the application of your foundation. The silicone based gel fills in pores and fine lines to prep your skin to perfection. I like this product, but I don't LOVE it. My favorite primer of all time however is the very pricey, high end Hourglass Mineral Veil primer (thank you Wendy Schwartz!!!). I agree that it smoothes the skin, but the aid of foundation staying power is questionable. Can I really complain when its priced at £5.00?? No.

Highlighting Powder: This lightweight baked powder glides over skin when applied with a light hand equipped with a stippling brush. I choose to apply with my MAC 187 and dust over the high points of my face- cheek, brow bone, bridge of my nose and cupids bow. This product could rival the famous MAC mineralized skin finishes for a smidgen of the price. It creates a beautiful opulent luminescence for just £3.00!!!

Undress Me Too Palette: This palette is a great addition to my ever growing collection of nude shadows. I am a neutrals girl at heart with a strong affection for shimmering inner corner highlights a soft golden/ bronzey tones on my lid. I may even push the boat out and go for a smokey gunmetal of an evening! Eccentric I know! Great smooth shadows with amazing pigment pay off for a drugstore brand. My faves are Shy, Wink and Obsessed- some bloggers are even rivaling this palette to the famous Urban Decay Naked palettes! You can't twist to arm to make that bold of a statement, BUT I do love it and for £4.00 you can't go wrong.

Have you tried this new range from MUA? Are you a neutral eyeshadow lover like me?

Liz.

All items can be purchased from MUA website. 3 for 2 on all new face products.

The Weekend Edit ~1

The Saturday Sanctuary

I love Saturday mornings. The boy kisses me goodbye after bringing me my necessary black americano in bed, and I get to sorting all the things that I either, A. couldn't be bothered to do or, B. didn't have the energy to sort in the week. As I browse my current faves on bloglovin' and get my caffeine fix, I thought I should share with you this sanctuary that is my Saturday morning.

The Weekend Edit ~1

1. Lime Water. This is my beverage of choice post black coffee. Coffee creates an acidic environment in your tum, so it is a good idea to counteract this with either a shot (great for an instant immune boost!) or a tall class of Lime Water.
2. Grazia. Need I say more? LOVE this glossy and thankfully I have a continuous weekly supply thanks to my future Sis-In-Law purchasing me a sub for chrimbo. So lucky that this week I have a super big issue to coo over.
3. The Valentines GlossyBox. Super cute pink packaging- loving the themed beauty boxes, review to come shortly.
4. My new toy. Early birthday present from the Boyf :) Aren't I spoilt!!! Can't wait to play more with my new Canon 1100D and splash out on matching accessories.

FYI- I am also going to be attending The National Wedding Show at Olympia this weekend with MummaFish. We shall be attending on the Sunday. Will I see any of you there? Will be sure to take my uber cool SLR and get snap happy.

Have a totes amaze Saturday readers, whatever you are getting up to.

Hair Treats!

Treats without the Cals ~ Hair Masks, Leave Ins and Oils

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque*, Unite Moisturising Repair Treatment*

Kerastase Noctogenist Voile Nuit Overnight Revitalising Treatment

Macadamia Natural Oil Nourishing Leave in Cream*

Moroccan Oil Oil Treatment, Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Spray*

Herra Hair Care Hair Perfume*

Hair Masks

Unite Hair- Moisturising Repair Treatment* http://www.uniteeurotherapy.com/
A hydrating, light weight creamy formula that leaves locks smooth and bouncy. Apply to clean, damp hair in an enormous lush bubble bath and leave on for ten for optimal hydration.

Macadamia Natural Oil- Deep Repair Mask* http://www.macadamiahair.com/
Not one I have personally put to the test, but an industry fave amongst fellow bbloggers. Give it a whirl and let me know how you find it?

Hair Leave In Products

Kerastase- Noctogenist Voile Nuit for Fine Hair http://www.kerastase.co.uk/
Apply this weightless serum to the ends of your damp locks after washing and wake to rapunzel- like, ultra high shine lengths. I love this nocturnal loving product and what makes it amazing is that all the work is done whilst you grab your uber important beauty zeds.

Macadamia Natural OIl- Leave In Cream* http://www.macadamiahair.com/
This product smells divine. Be careful to only apply a petit poi sized amount, otherwise your hair will be crunchy and crisp. Think LizFish1 circa 2000, when mousse was applied to damp hair and scrunched within an inch of its life. Not a good look.

Hair Oil

My first test in the hair treatment regime I have commenced- this is now a cult classic product. It does what it says on the tin, but dare I say- it leaves my hair a bit too soft?? Remember I am blessed with super fine, wavy locks- I require structure and hold, not taming. What do you think of it?

Macadamia Natural Oil* http://www.macadamiahair.com/
Love that this little guy comes in a spray bottle- it has a strong scent though, which may offend. Do I rate it? Am on the fence with this one, but i can't deny the shine and softness it gives.

Hair Perfume

Herra Haircare- Hair Perfume* http://herra.com/
Hair product phenomenon. Who doesn't want their hair to smell amaze? LOVE this stuff, firm favourite in my handbag beauty essentials. Spray it on multiple times throughout your day to refresh, hydrate, protect and scent. What is not to love? I've said it before, but will continue my mantra- Beauty obsessives need to get their insanely manicured mitts onto this- Its soon to become a must have.

Watch me talk about them all at length???

How do you care for your hair?? Let me know below- this will greatly help in enabling to buy more product and for that, I thank you :)

Nutty- Locks

Forget Goldilocks and her bears, I've got Nutty- Locks!

Macadamia Natural Oil Products*
Blurry- Locks
Muggy Shot, Nutty Locks...

Shiny Locks
Star Product! Macadamia Healing Oil Spray*

 What do Macademia say???

"Macadamia Natural Oil™ products meld the lightweight and nutrient-rich properties of Macadamia nut and Argan seed oils to revitalize even the most problem hair, nourishing from root to tip for effortless health and beauty."

What does LizFish say???

A fantastic little travel set to get you started on your hair oil journey! Sound a bit too philosophical? Lets get down to the nitty gritty.

Each Luxury Travel Set contains:
  1. 100ml Rejuvenating Shampoo- it cleans, but doesn't deep cleanse. NOT for the oily haired teen.
  2. 60ml Moisturizing Rinse- light conditioner, leaving your hurr soft and yet not weighed down.
  3. 100ml Deep Repair Masque- not tested as of yet, don't want to overload my barnet- BUT word on the bblogger street is, it's good :)
  4. 30ml Healing Oil Treatment- my star product of the travel set. Smells way better and is lighter in consistency than its arch enemy Morrocan Oil.
  5. 60ml Nourishing Leave-In Cream- i get a tad overzealous with this stuff. Its shoots out the tube and I end using more than the recommended pea size amount. Hasn't done me any harm though.
  6. Healing Oil Infused Comb- don't get this? not necessary in my opinion... a comb infused with oil? sounds like mumbo jumbo to me and I DO NOT recommend combing hair when wet- when your hair shaft is fully swollen with water it is at its weakest.
  7. Travel bag- cute, but this shall be tossed afterwards. I have a much better range of wash bags stuffed in my beauty trunk, trust me.

All that for £45??? Yeah, alright it is on the pricey side, BUT it does contain a sizable amount of high quality Argan and Macadamia oils for your pennies.

What do you think of the Oil hair craze? Are you in? I AM, did you see the pictures above??? My hair is super soft, shiny and the frizz factor is definitely on the decline.

The Middle Brow

No, I am not talking about the beige fluffy feelers in between my two muddy slugs.

'The Middlebrow' is a term created by the BBC to describe a culture of people who are hoping that some day they will get used to the stuff they ought to like. Sourced from Wikipedia.

Now, that sounds awfully sad, so I am going to introduce you to a product for your actual brows, that I have no doubt you will actually like.

Welcome to the floor, the GOSH Long Lasting Brow Pen in Wheat 004.

With the unique, skinny, 'felt tip- esque' type nib- it can make your brows look polished and precise. The key to this pen is the water like consistency and sheer tone. You can fill in your brows like you would a colouring book, without the anxious worry of going outside the lines. The marker pen has an extended drying time, enabling brow beginners the luxury of cleaning up with a cotton bud if errors occur.

I've Been Bitten!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain ~ Romantic

On the Lips! Instagram~ LizFish1

This little chubbie number is the high streets take on the increasingly popular lip crayons. For just £5.00 now at Boots, you can create a chic red lip in seconds.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that you can apply 'sans mirror', but pretty darn close! The buttery smoothness of this product, combined with the child- like, giant crayon applicator makes the painting of your pout effortless.

The combination of balm to stain ratio is spot on, making this a much more desirable product for me than your standard lip stains, or Revlon's previous beauty offering the Colorstay lip stain+balm combo. I have found these previous products inferior; the stain dries my lips followed by the balm clinging, making for a most unattractive kisser.

Swatched! Ring shown is from Cos
In the tube

Apply repeatedly through out the day, for a gorgeous Romantic red shine to your mush. Use a light hand for a subtle sheen, or whack it on for a full on Ruby red pout. I, obviously prefer the latter. What do you think of Revlons Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stains? Have you been Bitten?

Must thank my good friend EmilieClarke for sending me this gorgeous product, all the way from beautiful Vancouver!

Product Review: Back to BASICS

Never has an eyeshadow palette been more highly anticipated!!! I exaggerate. The imminent release of a shadow neutrals palette gets 'bbloggers' (aka coolest club ever) across the globe giddy with excitement.

Buttery, smooth pigment, pressed into neat little rectangles, collated together with a massive mirror. What is not to love???

In all seriousness this is a great product to add to your ever growing collection. This palette has many a purpose, can take you from day to night and is small enough to pop in your oversized, fashion tote.

Please see the video below where I ramble on about how much I love it, where you can get it and how I apply it.

As if that wasn't enough, I also took pictures of the darn thing. Palette, shadows and swatches- I spoil you.

I got mine here from Debenhams online!

What do you think of the UD Naked Basics Palette? I say, you should join the cult.
